Ohren auf - "vido-gabe" - Kopfkino an
We are vido, four music-loving and creative artists from Mannheim/Heidelberg offering visual inspirations for your imagination. We met 2020 at the Popakademie BW — University of Popular Music and Music Business — and have since been working on our colorful music. What makes us special are the four different languages we write our songs in — which can be as much spheric-dreamy as groovy-jazzy, but always indie-like.
Our music is a product of musical sound-experiments, expressing our imagination and inner pictures in music. This visual approach is also where our band-name comes from: vido is Esperanto (international concept-language) for “view”.
"Spieglein" out now!
When it comes to making music, we love unconventional methods: sophisticated drum-rhythms with a loop-station and delay-effects,
bowing an electric bass with lots of effects,
singing four-voice harmonies together
with special synthesizer sounds
— all which creates a colorful
and multi-layered sound,
that opens up doors to new
and yet undiscovered worlds.
Meanwhile we are inspired by
lyric-invoked pictures and
atmospheres arising therefrom.
With our music we challenge
the listener to not only to
sing and tap along,
but to soak in the details
and think critically about
the message we bring across.
In our songs we tell stories about maturing into society, diving into
nature and imaginative worlds, and about accepting oneself.
We discuss current societal issues like European immigration politics,
capitalist consumer behavior as well as the ambivalent
relationship between humans and social media.
